ABOUT RIDGETOP ORCHARDS Here at Ridgetop Orchards we grow cherries, peaches and apples. Our main business is growing apples for retail sales here in the US and for exporting overseas. Our packing house is in Fishertown, PA and we have fruit available for sale from August through January. Nestled in the scenic Chestnut Ridge area of Bedford Co. lies Ridgetop Orchards of Fishertown, PA. The “ridge” is one of the best sites for growing fruit in the State. The high elevation levels ranging from 1300 – 1800 ft helps deter spring frosts and promotes cool nights in the fall for best possible color. It is a combination of temperature and good soil that allows us to grow high quality fruit. History: A life in the orchards. A family business. That describes the youth of Ridgetop Orchards owner, Dan Boyer. Dan grew up on his parent’s family fruit farm in New Paris and received his Horticulture Degree from Penn State University in 1976. Together with his wife, Lois, they bought the orchard in 1980 and have grown Ridgetop Orchards from 140 acres to over 450 acres in fruit production. Dan & Lois raised three children on their farm. Their children are the next generation who will continue the family tradition of growing cherries, peaches, & apples. Their oldest son, Seth, has his business degree from PSU and has worked in the orchard since 2003. Their youngest son, Mark, is currently a student at PSU working towards his Ag Science & Hort degree and plans to return to the orchard upon graduation. Natalie, also a PSU graduate, loves to return to the orchard whenever possible.
Awards: In 2006, Dan was selected as the American Fruit Grower
“Apple Grower of the Year”, which recognizes apple growers who have reached
outstanding levels of success within the fruit growing industry. He currently
